To the Library it's warm " ALL THAT JAZZ " IS PLAYING AND THEY ARE A GREAT QUARTET

THE CAMDEN LIBRARY IS BEAUTIFUL. It has a round ROTUNDA and sits on a hill overlooking the most beautiful Harbor in America. Inside the Round beam of the rotunda are the words of Edna Vincent Millay. My fingers were so cold. Then they started to play songs I knew.

It was a flash back to Jazz joints in the 60's.

A very nice Saturday. Out side they had Girls on stilts dressed as Ice Queens, at first we thought they were

Mannequins. What a freezing day for that.

The Man driving the "Hay wagon" he is my neighbor. He donated the rides were free. The Kid's loved it.

In November he was driving the horses past my drive.

we talked a while,

Lots of teenagers entered the ice contest . The head Chefs from the Samoset resort were teaching.

It was so cold but the people were having a hell of a fun time. Everyone had a hot drink .

The view of the Harbor with the sail boats all wrapped up was gorgeous.





Behind the people is a Sculpture of wine bottle and glass. we could watch them work on it.


Winter is great lots of parking..
so have a fun weekend.

I have included a recipe I use with the mussels it is at the bottom of this post.

This is GREAT EASTERN MUSSELS in St. George ,Maine.

from the air shows the Beautiful coast line on Wheelers Bay. It is a five minute ride from my house. When
I have quests they enjoyed the trips there and also the education
.Below is Harrington Cove I live on. It opens to Wheeler bay.. The huge trucks were all over the highway

My friends in Texas wrote to me because they couldn't buy them anymore.

THIS IS GREAT EASTERN
BLUE MUSSEL
See the blue rope..

When it closed it put 60 people around here out of a job.

I miss seeing those big GREAT EASTERN MUSSEL Trucks on the highways they
were sharp looking trucks. My friends from Texas called a few years ago to say,
They found the Great eastern mussels there in Dallas. I was sorry to tell them that it was closed.
GREAT EASTERN MUSSELS, SO CLEAN, SO GOOD, ----------NO MORE!!

HERE IS A GREAT RECIPE I USE::

#1 discard all cracked or chipped mussels.(1 1/2 lb)
#2 Submerge in cold water add salt soak them if they don't close when you squeeze them toss it out.

The rope mussels do not have beards to scrap and scrub, nor sand.
#3 wrap in towel till ready and refg.
#4 a deep fry pan or wok is great. add garlic, salt-pepper, olive oil, I chop a green onion,small fresh

tomato, fresh Basil . maybe a pinch red pepper seed.
simmer till hot
#5 Add mussels, toss, cover. ADD 1/2 cup of dry white wine Steam 8 minutes
I toss several times cover till ready
#6 Put over, Capellini, or Linguine Fini I only buy Italian pasta.
Try it you may like it.

I told my Daughter you can always spit it out,
in a napkin.
Just try it .

NARROWS . It is on the south side of bridge before Bucksport,Maine. There is an observatory. it is built of granite and named after HENRY KNOX. Pres. George Washington's War
Secretary who lived by me

His house has Marie Antoinette's furniture.
Also a desk from Washington.

FORT WILLIAM HENRY THE ABOVE ROUND ROCK FORT IS AT PEMAQUID POINT.

Built 1692. I go to lunch at the light house Restaurant , it makes a wonderful afternoon. There are burial grounds dating to 1600's. They found Artifacts showing a 1000 year old village of Indians..

GEN. LOVELL, PAUL REVERE who was Chief of Artillery and DUDLY SALTONSTALL,
plus a group of 900 men tried to storm the Fort but sadly failed.

FORT HALIFAX in Winslow is the oldest Blockhouse in America. Built by English settlers 1759 to protect from the French and Indians.This Blockhouse is one of the original, consisting of huge Main building, Barrack a block house surrounded by high picked stockade fence. Two more Blockhouses on the hills above .

FORT Mc CLARY Below,

In Kittery built 1700's ... To get there you have to take 103 go south. There has been a fort here for 275 years to protect the PISCATAQUA RIVER, Fort Mc Clary It is named after Andrew Mc Clary (IRISH) who died at Bunker Hill.

This site has been MANNED DURING FIVE WARS .. This is the latest fort.

You can live here and every day do something so different.
I like Living here better than
Texas, Florida or North Carolina.

Pneumonia. He is buried in Mt. Zion Cemetery
in Queens county New york. .
He suffered great turmoil with his struggles of homosexuality
and alcoholism.

ONLY A MAN WITH LOVE IN HIM, COULD WRITE SUCH MUSIC.
How many people still love his music.
He is loved by me every time I hear his Music.

owned by Cecil B. De Milles Mother. There she has her appendicitis
Operation or so they Called it.

Sanford White was a Millionaire, Evelyn was 16 and he was 47 years old
He had an APARTMENT that was furnished Outrageous with a RED VELVET SWING.
He liked the ladies to swing in it Nude I am sure or with a kimono. A little Debauchery. Sanford gave her and her Mother everything., Sent her brother to a private school .
He built homes for the Astors,Vanderbuilts, Also the Casino in NEWPORT, RI.
The Washington Square Arch, Boston Public Library, The Herald Building in NYC.
Madison Square Gardens,Morgan Library,
Homes on Long Island include: HARBOR HILL,
SHERREWOGUE,APPLEGREEN,belonging to VANDERBUILTS
CASSLEIGH,Canfield estate 1902. WHEATLY belonging to E.D. MORGAN I am sure
lots more. You can view these Fabulous Estates, with Horse barns,

NOW CRAZY HARRY::
Harry Thaw was from a Millionaire family in Pittsburgh. They owned mines
and railroads.He was a horrid child Fits of violence,Tantrums. At Harvard
he chased a Cab with a shotgun.RED FLAG,A warning sign. He liked the Theater
and was a sadistic man ,beat a woman with a whip. He stalked Evelyn hounded
her into a reluctant Marriage 1905.

On a June night Harry was seen wandering the rooftop restaurant,
wearing a top coat. On top of Madison Square Gardens,(built by White)
The hat check girl had tried to get his topcoat several times.
He strolled up to a ring side table where White sat and
fired 3 shots in his face. In a calm manor no emotion, said to Evelyn,
"It's alright Dearie, I saved your life." Found INSANE and sent to an
Asylum upstate N.Y. His Money got him to be declared SANE.
They let him out. He was still having violent Fits. A real injustice.
He divorced Evelyn and disowned the child she had while married to him.
She went back into ShowBiz..

He was the highest paid illustrator at the time. COLLIER"S Magazine paid him $50.000 ( remember no taxes)
He worked for Harper's
Remember HARPER"S ??
Worked for LIFE
Magazine. He became
part owner.

His work consisted of Magazine
illustration's, Books,
Prisoner of Zenda,

London as seen by Gibson. People of Dickens. Also a book of sketches of Egypt
He did Patriotic Posters WWI.

GIBSON HAD A STAMP NAMED AFTER HIM

THIS IS THE ESTATE ON ISLESBORO MAINE.

As you sail through Gilkey Harbor you see this

Massive Estate gone to ruin. It is sitting on a knoll on a 500 acre Isle. The water is full of seals. It is a sight to see.

I understand there is now a boat yard there

Mr. Gibson passed away in New york Dec 23, 1944

His daughter married one of THE POST family.

J. Emery from Cinn. Ohio he was a Harvard

Law grad, He had a home

I Can't Believe It. ************THE KREATIV BLOGGER AWARD***

YIPPEE!!!!!!!
Well, First off I want to thank you Suzie for nominating me for this award.
I love to visit your beautiful Blog MILL HOUSE . I am excited to be on your list.

Hope I do this right. List 7 things about me and 7 more blogs I love.

#1 My age is 73 and I am sailing along with this new blogging. Started it in November, thanks to My Daughter Renee. I am finding so many talented and
interesting people .

#2 Because of this blogging I am not Painting. About seventy eight percent
of the time I am busy and happy. I do have as Winston Churchill said,
(black dog days).Then I drive around this coastline and play
Benny Goodman Music and I am UP again..

#3 I have in the past been an Interior Designer, including Hotels, houses, restaurants and yachts .Also designed wall paper for an airline. LOGO.

#4 My husband and I were the first After Hours club in Houston Texas across from Shamrock Hilton .
Where I met so many entertainer's, Kenny Rogers the singer worked at the club. Wish Renee could
get a decorating job out of him.

#5 I owned and operated a Summer resort in Saluda, North Carolina for 7 years. Worked at the Eden Rock Hotel, first woman to ever work in Kitchen.
That winter I learned a lot about food.I was the Garnisher,decorator,of
embellished food. Forgot how to spell it in french.
The Chef let me work the line at a big banquet, they were so fast, like
lighting. In april back to the Hotel and Restaurant in Saluda. Close in October, back to Miami Beach.

#6 For two years I tried an Antique shop, had to close it just not enough business.
Another failure. What Next?

#7 Had my Mother with Alzheimer's for ten years, I put her at a Catholic Day care,
and ended up Painting a full Mural on the front of the ugly building , I Got an award and Sun poisoning.
Worked as a florist during this time I was happy but was allergic to Astromerias
and and chemicals.
Now I live in Maine and Paint and blog. Out of everything I loved the flowers. Too bad that didn't pan out. I was at the doctor's every day off.

ZIEGFIELD THEATER demolished now.

About 1908-1909 My grandmother was a dancer with Flora Dora
review, She did not use her real name or birth place (Ireland)

My father always sang me this song

I am talking in the 40's ::
"Tell me pretty Maiden,
Are there anymore at home like you? "

I have tried to find her in the Photo shots
on the Internet.
My Cousin said when he was small that she burned all her
letters and photos. Strange?? She was no headliner,
just a chorus girl. That had to be fun and
interesting at a young age.

My Cousin said , she was a real looker, and
use to meet Jimmy Dorsey's father in the
park and talk at length.
I only remember meeting her in NYC once I must have been
4 or 5 years old. I saw one photo of her with my
Uncle Frank when he went into the service.


NOW here's some info on Flo ,
His Father used to own the Trocadero night club.
I think his first show in the states was about 1905.
I know his shows were in the Old Amsterdam Theater.
He was still going strong in 1920
The Flora Dora show was also 1911-1913

All these Girls were Beautiful

Most of them married Millionaires.
