Muddle mint leaves, powered sugar, and water in a collins glass,
I like a silver goblet.
Fill the glass with shaved ice or crushed then the bourbon.

Getting Closer to Derby Day::
Here's winners silks of past Derby
Races.
My silks were
yellow and Black.


Some top Jockeys are: Borel,Rose,Gomez, Leparoux


Some top trainers are ; Dutrow,Pletcher,Velazquez
and Lukas, can't forget the name Scanlan.


On my honeymoon we left the judge that just married us
still talking, to get to the track for POST TIME. That was my life.
We planed to bet on only Jack Van Burg horses. The idea was good only that day his horses didn't run. He had won the most races in 1976 Imagine 496 winners in a year. Lucky Owner.



The word Dosage means can they make the Distance.
It's a mile and a Quarter track. 1-4 for Derby
that's why I was looking at Tiz Chrome he had
a 1..01 rating. Theres's more on this horse later
it's not good news.


Some of the work outs look great but they are only for 4 furlongs . Even if the horse is a front sprinter (1st in front)
many can not do the distance. I like a come from behind horse,
myself. It is so exciting so see them coming up passing the others .

Derby was working our Apr 23 . I was Checking the horse out thinking what a great horse he was , just a colt..
well, TIZ CHROME Fell and broke his leg and was
euthanized. The Trainer was Buffert That is such bad
news, There is one sick owner at the Derby

TOUTING the DERBY

Here's a few Touts for the Kentucky Derby May 1, 2010

YOU TRY TO PICK A WINNER.

So Many horses were entered. Many have been suspended, or hurt. These Horses have to get to the track a while before the Derby. I found our horses needed a week to adjust,

to weather conditions, etc.

During this time my horse had a scratch ,

very small not deep, he got it in the barn. He was scratched.

That means taken out of the entries for the race.

Yes all that training, travel etc. It was a loss before we began.

So by the time the race starts some of these may be replaced.

Some I was watching have been suspended so far about

25 at least..

I hope Connemara runs love the name.

This is American Lion

Now everyone handicaps differently. Some go by past performance,
the speed, and type of race. Others go by the amount of Trainer wins,
Or by Owner wins, Or Jockey wins. Of course breeding counts.
Maybe the horse runs better in mud, or hard track, or turf.

WHO KNOWS... I had a friend that used to bet on a grey horse.
I told her it was wall eyed, of course it lost.
It is a fantastic day, lots of excitement.
I had a box but when our horse ran I was hanging on the track rail.
Guess I had no class. Who Cares I want to have fun.

The Big boys say never show emotion.
There will be SNOWBALLS IN HELL before I could be like that.

Butterflies fly 12 miles an hour. A Moth flies 25 miles an hour .

This post is all because I had a vision of my Mother wearing her Tiffany Green Cloisonne and black enamel Butterfly Brooch.

It was like nothing here, it's wings were lifted in a beautiful way and I remember how I

loved that pin.

We love our Dogs .. Please read this post, These Quills are Barbed and as the dog's body heat and moisture warm, the quills expand under the skin. The quills get even deeper embedded. If Quills are in a vital area -back of mouth -THROAT -nose in particular in a DOG this can lead to DEATH

SO go to the VET.

It's a losing conversation. They have horse

blinder's on and the conversation is going ----NOWHERE.

When I moved to Maine . My husband had bought a farm. He did it for a tax write off. 113 acre's with cow's ,horses, and tons of maintenance.

Built 1836, with 6 car garage 13 stall heated barn and tack room. A pond and guest cottage. He was in Florida and the people he was paying were DO NOTHINGS. Cost's cost's .I convinced him to sell.

We took a loss and moved to the coast and built a house.

It was here at the farm I had my first encounter with a Porcupine.

Our dog was at the porch door with a strange howling . He was a black Lab. I almost fainted when I saw his face. We took him to the Vet 3 times that summer. He hated that nasty

porcupine and went after it with a vengeance. After the third time he stopped chasing it.
