I have been working on this painting of Cagney. I have to be in the mood to go back to finish a painting. Should I try to finish it when not feeling it ,I screw it up. It may be October befor I get back to it. The yard is growing like mad this summer and I have these Art shows. Plus I am adding a Sun Room to the back of the house.

1938 was nominated for Best Actor at Academy
Awards for Angels with Dirty Faces.
1942 he won the Oscar for Yankee Doodle Dandy
He was nomanated three times for Love Me or Leave
Me, with Doris Day.

My Two favorite DANCERS are Eleanor Powell and Cagney.
Wonder why they never danced together.
I have seen all his movies, love the way he dances.

I met him in Houston when I was 16.

A friend working in the Rice Hotel said he

asked about the girl in the drug store
having the soda.
I went over and he said I looked like some one he knew years ago. I was in a hurry for

a date. Wish I had stayed and talked to him.

Cagney liked farms he had another around

My Dad grew up in his neighborhood and said he was a real scrapper.

Dad Said that a gang would hide and try to jump him and yell "Sissy" because he was coming back from Tap dance lessons. Dad said he could hold his own and was an Amateur Boxer Graduated with Honor's at Stuyvesant school 1917

When Cagney's Dad died he was in his teens and had jobs, Night doorman,Copy boy at
New York Sun, Junior Draughtsman. and worked at Wanamaker's,

America's first Department store. Now MACY"S.

Cagney went to Columbia Univ. Studied Drafting.
He Married and adopted two children.

American Stamp- Bill Mauldin Cartoonist

Our American Hero's WW ll Bill Mauldin Cartoonist..

Bill Mauldin born 1921 New Mexico. He went to the Chicago Fine Arts school.

In 1940 He enlisted in the Army. Bill was a rifleman in the 45 Division. He started drawing cartoons about the battle for Stars and Stripes. Won the Pulitzer Prize.

While he was in the war he knew Andy Rooney,. ( I love Andy) who was a

commentator during the WW ll.




I just bought some of these stamps
You all know my Uncle was Charlie Bowers the cartoonist
MUTT n JEFF so I was so impressed about this man and we are coming up on MEMORIAL DAY so this is my contribution........

During 1945 he sketched Fox Hole life.

The soldiers said his cartoons helped win the war.

I love Patton. Hard as nails ..

Patten didn't like the unkept look of his
Soldier's in the sketches.

He was WW ll's Greatest Cartoonist.

He was caught in Pieiku.

I am crazy about Andy Rooney..

Mauldin has written many books .

"The Brass Ring" 1972
After the war 1962 he worked for the Chicago Sun.

My Uncle Charlie Bowers worked for the Chicago Tribune.

Bill Mauldin Died at eighty one years,

of Alzheimer's and Pneumonia, just like my Mother did.

The Doctor said Pneumonia is the old people's friend.

CHOCOLATE
When you feel a slight depressed
Eat chocolate and lose the stress

Oh! Chocolate , Chocolate I love you
Eating Dark Chocolate is the thing to do.

Chocolate You make my heart sing a song

So I always take chocolate along

I am a chocolate hound

I could eat it by the pound.

Think that's going too far
But I do have it in the car


If this doesn't make you laugh I give up.

I make loads of Strawberry's for the Saint George Art Show
opening night.when I make them I always finish up the left
over chocolate and end up with it all over me.






Now I was told there is a Swissmiss low cal chocolate.
I am sure looking for it

If you get to Pennsylvania This hotel is a real landmark built in the 30's.



There is something sexy looking
about this chocolate, looks like Satin.





This is total destruction.
I wake up wanting choc. in the middle of the night, WHY??

The Hershey's dark is my weakness
