Memories of the Isle of Capri

I was looking at a Painting in the living room and all my memories flood my head. Travel my dear Bloging Ladies you will always have wonderful memories.
When we landed I wanted to turn around and go back to Sorrento, it was not to pretty and then was told Capri was up there.
All those Italian songs "Take me back to Sorrento" and that happy song Funiculare
were going through my mind.

I can't swim and our row boat man
Joseph, had no anchor, or Lifejacket nothing.
Needless to say I was scared to death.

The perfume factory is at Anacapri.
Oldest perfume known.

NOW SMELL THIS

SO what do we know about Perfume

Archaeologists found the worlds oldest perfume dating
. back 4000 years in Cyprus in 2005. Imagine that.

For sure they had it for Cleopatra back in Egypt.
Guess the first real use of it was about 1390.

Constantin Weriguene a Russian and a man that was a good friend of Napoleon Ernest Beaux worked with the scent of raspberries.

Saw a movie about a mad perfumer in France, he was
horrid. A killer, I don't usually watch Horror movies, but the perfume part was interesting. I bet Willow knows this movie.

SO HOW OLD WERE YOU WHEN YOU FIRST USED PERFUME???
Do you remember buying that first bottle? I remember very clearly at Blackwell's Drugstore.

It was across the street from my
Grannies and I was visiting .
I was 12.We went to the drugstore
and I saw Evening in Paris.
OHHH!!!
just had to have it. I was the first of
my friends to buy it, Then everyone had
Evening in Paris. It lost it's thrill.
I gave it to my Mom who thought it
was such a kind gesture. Of course
she must have poured it out. I would have.

As I became a teen I wore Most Precious, and white shoulders.

Guerlain was known in the 1800 in America
Belledgia was around in 1928
Jean Patou sold perfume in a baccarat crystal bottle.
my favorite is Joy by Caron

Caron had a famous perfume in 1911 called Marcesse Noir by Ernest Daltroff.
In 1913 there was a Violette Precieuse by Caron

I wore Bal a Versailles in the 60's by Jean Desprez

There is now a world Perfume Congress.
It is held in Cannes. There is a good
resourse for Perfume.

Mamma also had a tiny box of Bvlgari in her handkerchief
Boy! she would get furious
if she ever knew I went into that
dresser drawer.
Am I alone on this???

I used to wear this
Joy all the time
when I was Married.
After the Divorce
the Money situation was bad.
I never had a bottle of JOY after that.
Until my one boyfriend bought it.
I would not spend the money.
At 73 years old, Why?
No one in Maine would
appreciate it.

I will say this my Daughter Renee bought me a bottle
of Joy. I was so shocked. She brought it up to Maine.
It was hard times for her and I felt bad she had
spent the money.
Let me tell you it was a memory I won't forget.
Thank you Renee
