Style in the White house

Style in the White House

I am sure The Blue dress didn't cost $35.

Mrs Obama is a lovely looking Lady. A self made woman.

The first Lady as you can see seems to be on the Up and UP.

Not at all a show off and lots of fanfare.

Hooray! for all women.
Hat's off to anyone who strives for the top.

Well that's my take on her .

I have heard such nasty remarks about both of them.

It's a shame that some people show no respect.
I for one am proud of her and the President of our united states.

I can't get over how well she carry's herself. Mrs. Michelle

looks fabulous in just about any color dress.

Now this red and black number??

I think is a mistake.
It has the red on the stomach If a Designer showed me this dress
I would have run not walked out so fast.

Is it me or does everyone like it.
What's your opion of the belly dress??
I was taught ,
Less is MORE

REMEMBER ????

1970'S Remember?

The Andy Williams Show??

I fell asleep last night with Ovation TV on. I was watching the special
Art Crimes and Mysteries.all about a stolen Rubin's found in Miami
and Tomb robbers in NYC getting Tiffany windows out of wealthy
Tombs. I awoke to Andy Williams singing and after him there was
some BE-BOP nerdowell singing FLAT and OUT of KEY.
That got me up and the TV off.
There is no comparison OMG! it's like black and white.
Where is the Talent for this generation.
OK maybe a hand full are out there.

Williams has two homes one in Calif. they were both in Architectural Digest.

HUMMMM wonder who his Designers were??
***************************************************************

If you want to know more about this Icon::
Andy Williams was born in Iowa and is 83 years old.
Maybe that's why they live in Missouri. I guess
his big break was being on the STEVE ALLEN SHOW.
After that he recorded songs at Candence Records with
owner Archie Bleyer. Songs like ::"Canadian Sunset"
"Butterfly", "Are you Sincere", "Lonely Street" and so on.
He bought the Candence Record master tapes and started
a Barnaby Records.
The rest is history, He Had 18 GOLD ALBUMS and # Platinum

He Met a young UNKNOWN and recorded

him he was JIMMY BUFFETT.

I first met Andy Williams when he was playing the Shamrock Hilton in the late 60's.

At that time he was married to Claudine Longet. We sat at her table to see his show. After Andy Williams finished his show he went to get changed
to go to dinner with us. Claudine was putting him down to us during

the show and while we were waiting . She had a problem, she wanted to be the star. They were married for 8 years and had 3 children. I was not surprised to hear they were divorcing. In fact we were happy for him. Then the news of Claudine shooting her boyfriend in Aspen, WOW!!

1976 she shot some skier called Spider something or other. A strange name, he ended up in her web too. Andy went to her rescue as he was such a warm and wonderful person. They had Children, I am guessing that's why. She married the Attorney that got her off.
Bet she tows the line now..

Andy William's has his own Theatre in Branson, Missouri.
I have never had any desire to go to that area of the USA. He also owns a Moon River Cafe
and he and his wife live there.

At Eighty Three Andy can out sing just about most of the young talent out
there today..
Don't you wonder who hires some of the people that put singers on Television that are FLAT and out of Key. They can't carry a tune. Most of these people don't know music so how can they hire talent?

I love that song--

"Can't take my eye's off of you".

Ta Ta for now.. Keep Buggering on, as Churchill said.

Dorothy Draper-

My friend Mitzi worked with her and told me of the Castles
all over Europe that she decorated. We Antique shopped
together and I was always learning
with her. In fact I learned more from
Mitzi than in my Design courses.
She also did the Fairmont Hotel
in San Francisco.
The Palmer House in Chicago. The orig was built by a
Man named Potter the Hotel was the most lavish
wedding gift known. His wife Bertha was a socialite.
It was lost to the 1871 fire Chicago fire,
13 days after the grand opening.

He negotiated a loan of $1.7 million on his signature
to rebuild the Hotel. Bertha befriended Claude Monet
and is said to have the largest collection of his work in the USA.
The Palmer House hosted Presidents, Oscar Wilde, Dickens, Sinatra,
Judy Garland, on and on.

Draper was
famous for her Huge Cabbage Rose Chintz..Loved bold colors and big stripes, Mouldings and Paneling and Checkered Floors.

Must not forget "The fabulous Greenbrier Resort"
in 1948 Draper did so mant fabulous places in Europe also,
The resort had seen the likes of Prince Rainer, Duke of Windsor etc etc. Cha cha cha.

I had some friends that took a train and spent a week there . They told me all about it. Fabulous.

Carlton Varney was her protege. He now runs the company.

Dorothy Draper was the very first woman in America to

form her own Company of Interior Design in 1923.
