The sport of Kings

Horse racing is the second most widely attended spectator sport in America. The first race track was laid out on Long Island in 1665. Then the American Stud book began in 1868. By 1890 there were 314 race tracks across America. In 1894 America's most prominent track and stable owners met to form the Jockey club in 1894 The Jockey club was formed in England in 1702 during Queen Anne's reign and to this day exercises complete control over English Racing.

You too could have flamingo's if you put out as much shrimp as as the race track does. It is very expensive to feed these babies.

These birds the Egyptians worshiped. They are found in Africa, Peru,Caribbean, on lakes and marshes. They fly 300 miles a night and during the day they fly very high to avoid predators.Their bond is very strong, they are social and some colonies
are in the thousands, Scientists say they are dying out near Kenya because of the avian cholera or pesticides. Some Flamingo's have different colors, it's the shrimp in the diet that makes them pink. The babies are born white.

Does anyone know why they stand on one leg?

Can you believe that People would tear down the most elegant track to run a highway through. I remember when that happened it was so awful. we drove to look at the ruins and I couldn't stop crying..

I was just thinking how many race tracks
I have gone to. There are so many more
I wanted to see, such as
Santa Anita and Ascott Downs.
Oh well, I may see them after all not dead yet.

I have been to these:
Calder- Fl
Church Hill Downs -KY
Gulfstream -Fl. Tropical -Fl.
Hialeah- Fl.
Indiana Downs -(opens March 14th)
Laurel Park- Md.
Monmouth Park -NJ
Oaklawn - HotSpringsArkanasas
Ak-sar-ben- Omaha Nebraska (I was Married there.)
Arlington -MD
Fair Grounds- New Orleans
Belmont- NY
Aqueduct -NY

Saying Good Bye NYC

So now we say our Good Bye's to the most fascinating city in the world.
Life in the fast lane, at least for this ole woman. Once you have been there you want to go back. It's the world at your finger tips. So much to see and do , so little time. 4 days and we didn't do half of what I wanted. Missed Sardi's, The Russian Tea room and Henri Bendels etc. My advice go later than April 14th, the flowers will be in bloom. We were too early. Had a ton of fun.

Lunch at the Dining room by skating rink, great memories for me.

Of all the times I have been in Manhattan, never made it to St. Pats. I feel great now.

Then back to hotel and get ready for the big night.

Little did I know we were having a Hurricane tonight.

If you can ever see this show Please do so. You won't regret

it.

Just another short walk through the Zoo.

Saturday Nite Live

I was mesmerized at the whole show, what a birthday this year.

We didn't get to Sardi's it was a madhouse,
no cabs and raining cats and dogs. The wind
was blowing the umbrellas inside out.
I was wringing wet soaked through
and Barbie was getting cold.
