She was from Rockland

Louise Berliawsky Nevelson.

Louise Nevelson was born
 Leah Berliawsky in 1899
in PerislavPoltava  Russia.
above photo about 1915
as a young woman.

Nevelson's Family came to Rockland Maine from Russia.
Nevelson's first experience of art was at
the age of nine at the Rockland Public Library.

She studied Art in High school in NYC.
Got a job as stenographer at a shipping co.
That's where she met her husband to be of
 the Nevelson Brothers  Shipping Co.
Charles Nevelson and Louise BERLIAWSKY were
married at the COPLEY Hotel in Boston.
She divorced later and became one of America's
top sculpturists

sculpture garden, Louise Nevelson Plaza , is located in
downtown New York and features a collection of works by Nevelson.
Nevelson donated her papers in
several installments from 1966 to 1979. Some art she collected
from trash cans. I love her work. She was an aries too.
They are fully digitized and in the collection
of the Archives of American Art.
The Farnsworth Art Museum,
in Nevelson's childhood
home of Rockland, Maine,
houses the second largest collection of
her works , including jewelry she designed.
This Lady had style.
I saw a one woman
play about her , it was
fascinating.

If you are into design check this
woman out, you will be surprised.
In 2000, the United States Postal Service
released a series of stamps in her memory.
 I loved her life story.
She went to junk yards for some
parts of her art.              Wish I could have met her.

I just found a beautiful post from Daughter
