A Coastal Drive in Maine

There is something about
cliffs and Ocean.
I have always felt
totally wired inside
my body when around it.
After finding my GrandMothers
small stone cottage in Sligo, Ireland
about 900 feet from the cliffs and Atlantic,
I had goose bumps. The hair on the back
of my neck rose up. As I walked around,
the Grass was like razor blades. Don't
know what kind of grass it was, but I
won't grow it. Well, anyway here's
some shots we took along the Gorgous
Maine coast. Starting South to MidCoast
and Bar Harbor.

This is Cape Elizabeth Light

This is the coast line at end
of the cove at my house..

Next is 10 minutes away by the
airport It's Owls Head Light.
The light is way back on top
of cliff. We went sailing past
 it this Summer

This is 7 Minutes away
from me.
The Marshall Point
Light House in
Port Clyde

Swans Island

Bar Harbor,
Arcadia Park. These wonderful
bridges and carrage roads
were built by
John D. Rockefeller, SR.

More of the drive
along the coast
in Bar Harbor

The Park in BarHarbor
is a Bikers Paradise.

Saw this and
thought of a Joke.

"Politicians are
people who, when
they see
the light at the end
of the Tunnel,
Run out and
Buy some
more Tunnel..."

This is in  the last of Summer, Bar Harbor.
This is why Millionaire's  live here .
It's beautiful right?

Endangered Maine Puffins Right here.

A century ago, puffins
were nearly eliminated from
the state as the colorful birds
were prized for their feather
and their eggs were gathered
for the dinner table.
In 1973, the Puffin Project was
established in an attempt to bring
them back to their historical range.
Although the project has been a
resounding success,
 major threats still remain.
Open air dumps in the 1900s caused
an overpopulation of gulls,
which competed for space on nesting islands and they often preyed
upon puffin chicks. Gulls remain a significant obstacle.
Food resources are also in great peril.

Maine Ocean Islands
in the MidCoast area
have boat tours to take
you out to see these
Darling little birds.
I am sad to say they
are now on the endangered list.
Seal Island and Matincus Rock
at the south of Penobscot Bay
has the sweet little things. Kids love them.
The Maine coast provides habitat for more that 4,0000 little Puffins.

ON Easter Rock the Audubon Socity
SAVE THE PUFFINS

Island Living and Accommodations:
During the field season, 4-5 people live
and work on the island. A 12'x12' cabin
(affectionately dubbed the "Egg Rock Hilton")
is the hub of the living quarters and serves
as a kitchen, "dining room", office,
equipment storage room, and research blind.
The kitchen has a propane stove and
tiny refrigerator. There is an outdoor solar shower
and composting toilet. Five tent platforms are
provided for personal use and accommodat
small tents with a footprint of 8'x8'. A solar electrical system powers research needs.
Well Kiddo's I want to Thank them. I couldn't do that. What dedication.
