Ever had Apple Butter?

The roots of apple butter
lie in Limburg (Belgium and the Netherlands),
conceived during the MiddleAges.
Then there were the Monasteries, they had  large fruit yards.
The production of the butter was a perfect way to conserve
part of the fruit production by these monasteries.
At one time almost every village
had its own apple butter producers.

The production of apple butter was a way
of using apples in America with the Pilgrims.
This Apple Butter was made well into the 19th century.

Pumpkin Pie, with apple butter and Rum.

Why not a bagel?

This is a favorite Apple Butter bread with walnuts..

There is no  real butter in it. SO NON FAT!!!
It's called Apple Butter because it spreads like Butter
on breads. Made with with Cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg
and other spices. It is used like a Jam on bread, also
as a side dish, You can add it to Gingerbread cake, and
other baked goods.
The Dutch used it for condiments.

Think I'll make that cake. Happy Baking Gals.

Paula, I feel bad for her.

History--In 1989, she divorced her husband, Jimmy Deen,
to whom she had been married since 1965.
Paula was left with $200 bucks.
Money was tight raising both her kids and her younger brother, Earl
they call Bubba. She tried hanging wallpaper,
working as a bank teller, and selling real estate.
Then came  a catering service,
making sandwiches and meals,
which her Children Jamie and Bobby delivered.

About 1987 on Whitaker St She opened
The Lady and Sons Restaurant in Savannah.
The Paper USA Today
named The restaurant  "International Meal of the Year" in 1999.
The specialty is a  big buffet of Southern "comfort foods."[
Salad and desert included. Then in 2008,  opened another restaurant,
the Paula Deen Buffet,  in  Tunic Co. Mississippi.

Well, I am sure she is crying all the way to the bank.
Miss Deen has made some big money.
God Bless Oprah! She has been a friend to Paula.
