Would you wear a Cameo?

Dec. 2, 2010

The word Cameo is thought to come from the Hebrew word kamea ( amulet) The Cameo is shrouded in history and mystery. Greece and Rome had cameos of agate
Shell came much later. Carvers can still be found near Naples. Maybe you have a signed Cameo . Hold it to the light and hope you find a name Like:
Benito Ruolalo - Garofolo or Gaglione

.

The cup of Ptole was from Alexandria during the First century. It was stolen in 1804. When found it was missing the Gold base and Gems. The Queen of France is said to have used it as a chalice for Communion.

It is a masterpiece of antiquity

This is a cameo agate Claudia

Set almost the feel of Wedgwood

16.000 different Moss species

Yesterday I was Out and about looking to gather some moss for my house plants. My friend called me to ask," what the hell were you doing on the side of the road?"

Evidently she thought I

had lost something.

Off I go to gather Moss for my Indoor plants before it snows.

Moss is otherwise known as Bryophytes or Bryophyta

Walk softly on this beautiful earth.

There are 16,000 species of moss,

including aquatic and tree moss

I have tried to do this on a walkway,
it's difficult.

Should I get these?

Should I get these for my entry gate?

I don't know about you, but I kinda like them.

Gargoyles were used as drain pipes or Gutter spouts.

The ones that were not drains were referred to as Grotesque's for decorating buildings. Think of them as mooning or thumbing your nose at the Evil spirits .

I Guess Paris has the most interesting of them all.

They used them in Churches to make you think of the pains of hell.
Like you better come inside.

This is some water fountain.

These two were real impish looking
but I want the one below with wings..

I am planing to buy two of these.
I found them on the internet and
I will cement them to the Entry posts.

This guy is real scary.
He should scare off anybody.
wanting to cruse up my drive.

Turkey Day

We express Gratitude
never forget that the highest
appreciation is not to utter words,
But how we live by them.
John F. Kennedy

The Macy's Day Parade starts at 9 AM

then the Dog show.

May your stuffing be tasty,

your turkey brown and plump.

May the potatoes and gravy never have a lump.

May your yams be delicious, your pies

be the prize.

And May Thanksgiving Dinner stay off your thighs.

Now on Thanksgiving Day all Americans sit down to dinner at the same time-HALFTIME.

I plan to do as Martha Stewart does.
When her husband says what's for dinner,
She says " reservations".

No really I have company coming.

I DO PLAN TO GO TO THE HARNESS RACES.
Martha's out for Thanksgiving
. Go girl!!

The Mother turkey said to

her miss behaved son, If your Father could
see you now, he would turn over in his gravy..

To all my wonderful Blogging buddies

may you all have a perfect turkey and be with your family.
