Part Two --Dina Wedding

Part Two Dina's wedding Dec 4

On a close up you can see my Cousin Ada's tears in her eyes, this is the last of three
beautiful girls to get married. Ada was a single parent and did a great job raising
3 girls all alone. Dina just came back from Iraq . She was a Capt and Dentist.
We are all so happy to have her back home and safe.

The Bus was outside the Church and we headed to woodbury at the "FOX HOLLOW INN"
This was such a wonderful warm and Inviting Hotel and my suite was right next to the lobby.
click on this for 2 videos . Remember it was prettier
all decked out for Christmas. The Scotto Boys run a tight ship.

Cocktail time in the hotel. There were 3 rooms with buffet tables, every time you turned a person was there with a tray of FOOD. So much food.
Later that night I started getting sick.
I had ordered Duck and started thinking if I ate it I'd be even sicker so I had to go in early.

I missed the Dinner and the Wedding cake, but I will be getting some photo's I hope.
George lives in Kent Connecticut, he is retired

but was an Architect in NYC. I think he is also sick.

I had a flu shot ????????????

Dinner menu was 7 different choices. A Haute Cuisine, starting with Chateaubriand ( named after politician and french ambassador of France) also Duck ala Orange, I was impressed.

I have never seen Ada so
happy. I am really glad I was there
to see it all. May Dina and Andy have a long and healthy, happy life, with healthy and happy children.

There are errors in the spelling but I wanted to get this done.
God Bless all and have a wonderful
Holiday Season.

Dina and Andys wedding Dec. 4th 2010 Part One

Part One - Dina's wedding Dec 3 Rehearsals and on the Morning of wedding
It is now Dec 7th I am home.

I just got home. I am sick, went to Doc and am taking z pack.

I was afraid I would be stranded in Boston and I had such a fever.

The little six passenger Cessna two prop plane couldn't take off

Maine was having gale force winds and 2 ft of snow. Boy was I happy to see that cute little airport all dressed up for Christmas and the busy runway with ubiquitous snowplows. The Employees all came on the tarmac to help us out of the plane. It's nice to get called by your name, I was home at last. As we drove into the drive we met the snowplow doing my drive. There is no place like home.

I am doing the wedding in two parts. It was 4 days.

The rehearsal dinner was just wonderful
The owner of the Restaurant even dropped into the Church.

After the Church we loaded the buss for the Hotel.

The Grooms parents live in Fort Lauderdale in Victoria Park. That's close to LasOlas Blvd.
They were so lovely.

Dina found some lace just like the gown so we all worked on making a shawl , as she needed to have something for her shoulders, it was cold. They were all running on Adrenalin

AFTER THE REHEARSAL AT THE CHURCH /
WE ALL DROVE TO A FABULOUS ITALIAN
RESTAURANT CALLED "GIARDINO'S"

It was fantastic beautiful small rooms and such service
Just click here and see all the lovely accommodations..
It is in Douglaston, NY I think we had a 10 course meal.
The food was coming every 15 minutes.

This night was so full of love and happiness.
Everything went like clock work, very organized.
People came from so many far away places.

The next post will be the wedding in the church and the Hotel reception

A Farthing? A Sixpence or a Shilling?

Dec .7th 2010
A Farthing for your thoughts,
Nope it sounds better as a penny.

Planing a trip to England

TEN U.S. DOLLARS is worth about 6.38 POUNDS

Check the currency rate on the internet before the trip.,
Well when I traveled the currency was always confusing.

I wish someone had helped me to understand.

I Knew a pound note only.

Tried to keep track of the paper money.

figured a crown was more because it was bigger.

OH well. I had a good time, except for the food.
In Ireland and England it was very bland.
I made up for it in Paris and Italy.

A pound ==1/20 shillings

or 1/240 Pence

or 1/960 Farthing
Confused?? How about this::

A Bob is a Quid

A quid is a Quinea

a Quinea -a farthing

Have You got it?

OK I gather a sixpence is a half shilling
and 1/40 of a pound.
Sixpence is a lucky charm,
put into a christmas pudding
and worn in left shoe for luck.

Couldn't figure this out?? What a beautiful coin.

Maybe wrong but, a florin is 1/10 of a pound

a farthing is probably less than a US penny.
a Farthing is also said to be a fourth of a quarter??????

I feel like it's double talk.

Seventy Three years ago Elizabeth became a Queen
I just found out the Commonwealth of England
includes 53 countries. WOW!
