The Magnificent Loretta Young

I remember My Mama and I watching
The Loretta Young Show.
My Mother would never miss her ENTRANCE,
always wearing breath taking gowns.
She had a fantastic entrance.
The shows were great and clean.
From 1953-61 the show won Three Emmy Awards.



















Loretta was born in Utah, Jan.6 1913
Passed away Aug 12,2000
My Mama was born in 1913
and also schooled in a convent like
Loretta. She was a child star at age 3 along
with 2 sisters Polly and Elizabeth. Her career started
1917-1953 in Hollywood.






































































































Young had an affair with a then-married Clark Gable
while on location for The Call of the Wild. During their affair,
Young became pregnant. Due to the moral codes placed on
the film industry, Young covered up her pregnancy in order
to avoid damaging her career (as well as Gable's).
When she began to show she went on a "vacation" to England .
Young's baby Judy was born on November 6, 1935,
in a house her mother owned in . A few weeks later,
Young went back to movie-making.
Judith was taken to St. Elizabeth's an orphanage
outside Los Angeles.
The Plan was to go a few months later and the grandmother
would adopt the infant.
The child was raised under the last husband's name
"Lewis"
