I really do have some grand Memories.
One was the Old Tropical Race Track
Tropical Race track in Coral Gables,Florida.
That is south west of Miami Beach. It opened 1931
and closed in 1972.
It has a Tartan Turf, (rubberized track surface in 1967.)
It was built in the thirties by a bootlegger Bill Dwyer and Frank Bruen. They
got backing from a Canadian Tycoon Sam Bronfman.
Then Henry L Straus a high stakes Gambler from
Ohio bought it.
The Call "Riders Up" I sure miss it all.
They tore it down for a highway,
so couldn't they go around it?
When My horse Limehouse ran
they played Limehouse Blues for me.
I loved that.
We have dog races and Sulkie racing. No real Track in Maine.
lots of Gambling Casino's for all the Broke Mainers.
