England and Castles

1872
The Avon Castle Estate was once part of the Manor of Leybrook,
and owned by the Lyne family. The Castle was built at a cost of £80,000
by John Mills of Bisterne on an estate of approximately 1,322 acres,
including a half mile stretch of the River Avon.

Peckforton Castle  built in the Medieval style
It stands in woodland at the north end of Peckforton Hills
1 mile (2 km) northwest of the village of Peckforton.
Cheshire, England. The house was built in the middle of the 19th
century as a family home for a wealthy Cheshire landowner
John Tollemache, estate manager, and Member of Parliament.
NOW A HOTEL

Warwick Castle, Warwickshire.   with a Saxon fortification
and was upgraded to a Motte and Bailey Castle in 1068.
By the 14th century it has become a towering stone built medieval fortress overlooking
the River Avon. This is one of the most beautiful castles in Britain and provides
family entertainment. During the summer months, archery, falconry,
and jousting take place in the grounds.

Blenheim Palace  (pronounced "Blen-im") a monumental country house In Woodstock.
Oxford Eng. It was the residence of the 1st Duke of Marlborough.
John Churchill.
.

Bodiam castle is protected as a Grade one list building and Monument
It has been owned by The National Trust since 1925, donated by Lord Curzon
open to the public. Only thing missing is Sir Lancelot  in shining armor

Emma Rutland runs Belvoir Castle, one of the most successful

stately home operations in Britain. Emma Watkins,
savvy farmer’s daughter from Powys, remembers the shock
of moving into Belvoir Castle with four young children
when her husband,David, became the 11th Duke of Rutland.
Wow! she married well. This looks like a fabulous place to stay
for a few days and see the area. It's near villages Redmile,
Woolsthorp, Kipton, and Bottesford, and Grantham.
16th century castle is on a high hill.  Belvoir is  pronounced Beaver,
Humm!! no trees around it either.

A bed and Breakfast now near Yorkshires
This extraordinary creation was the result, a 'castle' built and decorated
in the neo-Gothic style. Later in the century
Doctor Abercrombie, surgeon to Queen Victoria, moved in.
Was he really JACK th RIPPER????
