1900 's, the migrating Irish and Scots brought
Halloween traditions to the United States.
Bats are connected by
an ancient Samhain
ritual of building a bonfire, this drove away insects and attracted the Bats..
Remember the movie Meet me in St. Louis and the halloween shot
with Margaret O'Brien and the Bonfire .
Here's some of the Masks for 2016
The next full moon
on Halloween will
be 2020. That is a rare
night. Last one was in 2001.
to hide from the Sprits and Ghosts that roamed
on this special night. The night of Samhain. This is the night they make Turnip Lanterns lit with coal to guide the lost souls. Samhain is the Celtic new year
Festival.
The Celts used the
day to mark the end
of the harvest season
and the beginning of
winter, and also
believed that this
transition between the
seasons was a bridge
to the world of the dead.

The masks are a HOOT. I wonder how many rubber faced candidates we'll see on Halloween night!
ReplyDeleteI never liked those masks. In my day we just painted the face. Yesterday I had a neighbors child come over and move the patio furniture. He is 6 ft and 15, was telling me all about his football practice. He asked did I hear about the clown's. I said," Oh on the news," he said, yes and everyone is scared in school. It's on the net something awful is going to happen Halloween.
ReplyDeleteThis has been on my mind, what's going on with the human race. He really was upset.
Getting much needed rain today.
Thanks for the communication between us.

Politicians don't need masks; their faces are the masks.
ReplyDeleteI understand you've already voted. Good for you! you are the ideal, convinced voter who goes right away to do what she considers to be her duty.
We won't know until the 8 of November who the winner is, but we already know who the looser in this campaign is: the FBI. It has lost any credibility in the world in matters of security, and this will be a major topic in the months to come.
i agree.
ReplyDeletethe masks are a hoot for sure.
I much preferred it when Halloween was celebrated by children being walked around a neighborhood by their parents. I miss those days.
ReplyDeleteThe masks are humorous and I'm voting for Trump because he'll put conservative judges in the Supreme Court. I don't support him, per se, but I want a country that resembles as closely as possible, the one I grew up in. He's the only candidate who'll do that.
