history--Mother's Day
I didn't
know this.
In 1914,
President Woodrow Wilson
signed a proclamation
designating Mother's Day,
held on the second Sunday
in May, as a national holiday
to honor mothers.
Although Jarvis was successful in founding Mother's Day,
Anna Marie Jarvis , 1864,
Taylor County, West Virginia .
On Nov 24, 1948, West Chester,
Pennsylvania was the founder of
the Mother's Day holiday
in the United States.
Hope you all
have a wonderful
Mothers Day.

Happy Mother's Day to you too Yvonne, a beautiful post
ReplyDeleteIt would be nice to take a trip down to sunny fla. to see your daughter?
I would love to move to a sunnier place, but my grown children and grandchild live here in the PNW.
Sending you a warm Hug and a garden of flowers waving in the soft spring breeze,
Back again..
ReplyDeleteIt is Earth Day and it is a big thing here in the Pacific States and in Oregon where I reside, what does your state and community do to celebrate Earth Day, ???
Enjoy the week end,,,
hugs and smiles xo's
Interesting to hear about how Mother's Day was founded, Yvonne. It might be a lonely day for you this year with your daughter gone to Florida. I do hope that you are able to visit her often, especially in the winter! Please be sure to do something nice for yourself. I will be thinking of you. Hope you are seeing some signs of spring. Sending hugs xo Karen
ReplyDeleteA great honor, indeed. And a happy one to you dearest Yvonne!
